I purchased this for the Holiday/Season in the title that qualifies it for the
Harlequin Silhouette 2012 Reading Challenge. And of course I needed to read it by Christmas, so I read it on Christmas Eve. It's a warm-hearted sweet romance.
You've got the heroine, Elise. Single mother of a charming baby, Molly. She's just inherited a house and piece of property from the grandmother in what seems to be her first real stroke of luck, and she's headed there this holiday. This is a nerve-wracking endeavor because she doesn't know what she's going to encounter in the small town of Four Corners. Could she have family she's never met?
Then there's the hero, Jared Johnson, lawyer to the stars. He'd do just about anything for a valid excuse to delay his trip to his parents in New York (along with the memories said trip would bring) this holiday. Up to and including driving Elise the lengthy trip to North Carolina in order to save her and baby Molly and uncomfortable bus trip.
This book was a quick read (quick to get into as well as quick to actually finish), perfect for the season, and had the added benefit of helping me work toward completing the challenge. I know I've read and enjoyed Susan Meier's work before, though I couldn't name titles off the top of my head. And I'd be happy to read more by her in the future.
