Comments:
This was a strange and yet intriguing story. I haven't tried children's
books in audio before, and I found myself fascinated. It's like
listening to a story being told or read to. (That sounds stupid, but it
felt different than adult books on audio to me.) Anyway, I was caught
in the story and deeply disappointed to find out I couldn't get the
second book in the series, The Celestial Globe, in audio. I'll
still read it in print, but I would have preferred to stay in the same
format. In any case I look forward to seeing what happens with Petra
and her family and friends.
Forgot to mention: This is a kids book, right? So throughout concepts like... oh, the "wing" of a building are defined and/or explained in detail. I found this to be amusing when I was in a good mood and a little annoying when I wasn't.
I'm trying to think back to audio books of the past. I've listened to lots of YA, but only a few for middle-graders. "Virals" by Kathy Reichs was probably my last one. Can't remember any before that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to any YA yet. I'm not sure I'd want to... I can't imagine listening to all the angst. Reading it is fine. Listening just might drive me mad.
