It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (8/27/2012)

Hosted by: Sheila @ Book Journey

Life:

I've seen this section in some other bloggers' Monday posts and decided to try it for myself...

My ma goes to Mayo Clinic this Monday, so hopefully all goes well.  Work is in a state of continual change with construction and departmental merges, so I never know quite what to expect from day to day.  And my birthday is this week; here's hoping for a nice day.

In the past week I've read and posted:

True Blue by David Baldacci

The Next Margaret by Janice MacDonald Mant (for the Canadian book challenge)

Currently Reading:

The Cruelest Month (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache Mystery, Bk 3) by Louise Penny (ILL library audiobook copy) (for the Canadian book challenge)

The Amulet: The Stonekeeper's Curse (Amulet, Bk 2) by Kazu Kibuishi (Library copy) (with the kiddos)

Polly and the Pirates (Polly and the Pirates, Vol 1) by Ted Naifeh

This week's reading possibilities include:

Thieftaker (Thieftaker Chronicles, Bk 1) by D. B. Jackson

Girl of Nightmares (Anna, Bk 2) by Kendare Blake

The Cat Sitter's Pajamas (Dixie Hemingway Mystery, Bk 7) by Blaize Clement

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, Bk 1) by Alan Bradley

Gold Mountain (Klondike Mystery, Bk 3) by Vicki Delany

and many, many others...

  2. Hope you enjoy your books this week, and that life calms down somewhat. Girl of Nightmares is one that I plan on reading too - I enjoyed the first book in the series.

  3. Oh, you're reading Polly and the Pirates! Have you read Ted Naifeh's other series, Courtney Crumrin? It's one of my favorite graphic novel series. It just keeps getting better and better as it goes on, and I think they are currently re-issuing the old albums as colored hardcovers.

    1. The Flavia de Luce series is one of those that I've seen around and know I need to try, but haven't yet. Hopefully I'll start The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie soon.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie was pretty good. Flavia was a great main character.

  11. I was so preoccupied with the book covers that I almost missed "Life." This was posted last week--sorry for being so late. How's your Mom? Happy belated birthday! Did you do anything special?
