Love Anna Dewdney's other work so had to try this one.

Comments:

I LOVE that Gloria's a bulldog. My sis's dog (the one I've been training), is a bulldog mix. In addition, the story was cute. It has great vocab, as usual for a Dewdney book. Also like other Dewdney books, this one has a nice sing-song rhyming rhythm.  I'm definitely glad I requested it.

Why this book:

It looked cute and had the word “reading” in the title.

Comments:

Owl sits down to read to Owly, but then Tiny Chick comes.  That's fine but then more and more come until finally Baby Owl is NOT READING!  It's a nice story with a happy ending.  I think part of what I liked was that "baby" owl was reading to other children.  I liked the idea of sharing literacy, even at a young age.  Maybe especially at a young age.

Llama Llama Books

Llama Llama Wakey-Wake and Llama Llama Nighty-Night and Llama Llama Hoppity-Hop and Llama Llama Zippity-Zoom by Anna Dewdney (Library board books)

These are quick and cute but definitely for a younger age group than the rest of the llama llama books. I found the action books (Hoppity-Hop and Zippity-Zoom) more interesting to actually read aloud than the other two books (Wakey-Wake and Nighty-Night), though all still have a nice rhythm about them.

Comments:

Llama Llama has new neighbors and they've come to visit.  Will he share with his new playmate?  This is another cute addition to the llama llama series.  As usual, there's a lesson told in the rhythmic and rhyming phrases that make these books so great for reading aloud.  My favorites, however, remain (in order from most) Llama Llama Mad At Mama, Llama Lama Red Pajama, and Llama Llama Misses Mama (previously mentioned - very briefly - here).

Moving Along...

How to Moon a Cat  (Cats and Curios Mystery, Bk 3) by Rebecca M. Hale (personal copy - purchased at Borders closing sale) - Better than book 2.  It was still from a plethora of perspectives including some odd one such as bricks in a wall and the moon.  Despite being better than book 2, I won't be reading more of this series.

No Such Thing as Dragons by Phillip Reeve (library copy) - Cute.  I enjoyed it.  I do wish it had ended differently, mostly because I had all sorts of ideas about how it could end while I was reading and the author didn't choose any of them. =)  Anyway, it's always a pleasure reading the occasional Children's book.  They can be such fun.

Clockwork Angel  (Infernal Devices, Bk 1) by Cassandra Clare (personal copy - purchased at Borders closing sale) - Interesting.  I was first drawn to the cover, which I fell in love with the first time I saw it over a year ago.  I have the first 3 of the Mortal Instrument series, but I'm waiting to read them until after I've read this series.  It's the whole prequel thing.

While I'm summing up my reading I should mention another author whose book's I've been enjoying.  Anna Dewdney.  Over the past month or two I've had the chance to read several of her children's books.  VERY cute.  I've enjoyed them and shared them with my family, esp. my 4 y.o. nephew and 2 y.o. niece.
