Comments:

Victoria is a popular mystery writer who has decided to write her "novel of the heart" - a historical fiction piece based on her family.  So she's gone back home for research, work in the family restaurant, and to learn to cook from her Nonna.  But there's a murder that's driving away business, she's receiving pressure to use her knowledge as a mystery writer to solve this thing quickly, and she's romantically confused to boot.

I found this book interesting - and not in the negative way that word is described as meaning in the book.  I liked the characters for the most part.  I was invested in the rush to figure out who did it (even though the victim himself was obvious).  And the setting was interesting as well.  I haven't read many books set in Jersey that I can think of.  Excepting Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, of course.  But I do have ancestors from the area.

Anyway, I intend to read the 2nd book in the series, Wedding Soup Murder, due out September 2014.
