Comments:

This is a library book I checked out...

A cute and fun story. It reminded me a bit of a "book" I "wrote" in 2nd grade — only way better of course. =) The pictures are fun and interact well with the story. The vocab (agile, inquisitive, jolted, taunt, etc.) fits the clever monkey's story perfectly. Oh, and the dedication to the author's mother was also cute.

I don't have access to any 4-8 year olds (the recommended ages on the dust jacket), but to give some idea of its attention-holding capabilities... My always-on-the-move-only-sits-still-for-Caillou two-year-old nephew actually sat relatively calmly to listen for the first half of the book. And it was bed time, so that's doubly impressive.
